International contract on Indian EPC Company for its Water and Effluent Treatment Business
Recently, Indian multinational EPC Company- L&T Construction's international arm has been awarded a contract for its water & effluent treatment business to construct and commission water supply schemes for various towns in Tanzania. Approximate value of the Contract is around INR 1000 Crs to 2500 Crs.
Government of India, during last financial year, awarded a similar type of large contract for potable water supply project to 800 villages in India on construction division of Larsen & Toubro Ltd (L & T). The business has been entrusted to implement rural water supply project to provide potable water to 800 village. Scope of this award include Tube wells, Pump houses cum Chlorination rooms, Overhead Tanks, Water Treatment systems, Solar plants, Rising Main and Distribution pipeline network, staff Quarters, individual house connections, allied Electromechanical and Automation system.
The company was also awarded domestic orders from the Uttar Pradesh State Water &. Sanitation Mission to implement various rural water supply projects under the Jal Jeevan Mission to provide Functional House Tap Connections (FHTC) in the state.
Benefits to Small construction contractors
L & T prefers asset light model and deploy small contractors. Therefore, many small Contractors, if engaged, in this project shall be benefited like:
1. Small contractors in civil construction, Piping fabrication and erection, electrical erection and commissioning, mechanical fabrication and erection, C & I erection and testing etc who are specialised in civil construction shall get work/contract,
2. Piping fabrication and erection, electrical erection and commissioning, mechanical fabrication and erection, C & I erection and testing etc may get work in the overseas construction activities and shall be benefitted.
